CULT BEAUTY HAUL

It’s been a while since I’ve done some online beauty shopping or any beauty shopping in fact. Surprisingly I have been buying a lot more clothes and shoes than anything else which is quite unusual for me, I usually just stick to the same jumpers and jeans haha. But I wanted to try a few new beauty bits and here are my thoughts on them so far.

I’ve been hearing a lot about Huda Beauty and with the cooler weather fast approaching I wanted to add some darker shades into my lipstick collection. I can’t tell you how excited I was to get these. I picked up two of the Liquid Matte lipsticks, Cheerleader which is a muted red, and Famous, a dark burgundy. Cheerleader I really like, it applied well and looked even on my lips, however Famous was a massive let down. I know it’s hard to get dark lipsticks right, but this formula just didn’t work for me. I find the lipstick really hard to apply, it’s really liquid-y so if you don’t remove the excess, it will go everywhere. The colour also came off very patchy. I applied it like I apply all of my liquid lipsticks, I start by lining my lips with it and then fill in the rest, but it just didn’t work for me with this one. The colour looked very uneven throughout my lips and I can’t even say that maybe it was because my lips were dry, because honestly they’re the smoothest they’ve been in a long time. It also didn’t last very long at all, I had it on for two hours, only ate once and had to reapply because it looked a mess. Having said all this, I still want to try some lighter shades from the Liquid Matte range because I do really like Cheerleader. I also picked up a Lip Contour in the shade Vixen which I love! It’s a dark brown with a hint of burgundy. I’m such a fan of dark, vampy lips during Autumn/Winter, so I know I’ll be getting a lot of use out of this.

Something I’ve also wanted to try for so long was the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist, but have you seen the price tag on it? Uff! So expensive for a facial spray. However, Cult Beauty are stocking a limited edition bottle which is slightly smaller and of course, cheaper, so I finally bought it! I’ve been really enjoying it so far and it has the most pleasant scent. It reminds me of a medicine called Aspégic random, which you dissolve in water, and the scent of this mist is the same as the taste of that medicine which I’ve been a fan of since forever.

And last but not least, I bought the Escentric Molecules 01 Perfume. Not impressed so far. It’s got a lot of ‘science’ behind it and it’s meant to smell differently on everyone because it reacts to your natural scent and emphasises it - something like that. However, it either doesn't work, or I don’t have a natural scent, because it smells of nothing on me. I’ve only tried it a couple of times though, so I’ll have to give it a proper test drive. *Update! Just read a bit more about this, and apparently it's rare that you can smell it on yourself. That explains a lot! Will have to ask people if I smell good or not then haha!*

  1. That's such a shame about that dark Huda lip color! It looks so pretty on the package. I've never heard of the Escentric Molecules perfume. I'm a chemist, so I'm naturally interested in the weird 'science' behind it, hahaha! You'll have to update us if people think you smell good!!

  4. I love Cult Beauty! I just bought a Huda Beauty lip liner in Bombshell which is a little more red toned than I was expecting! I have the Escentric Molecules perfume too and it doesn't work for me, it makes me smell like parma violets!

  11. You know, I've been seeing the Huda lipsticks on social media and was wondering about the formula for I've never tried them. Well they're new! LOL Sorry one didn't work for you. Glad the other one did. Dark colors can be funny and since this is her first that's probably why it isn't right. LOL Great haul.

  15. I find those perfumes so weird! The concept is quite interesting but how do you know if you smell nice or not? Ask a stranger every single time? Haha, I don't get it. Anyways, that Cheerleader lipstick sounds amazing to me! I'll need to look for it. x

  16. I LOVE Huda! She's such a beauty, down to earth, and of course, really great at makeup, too! I've never tried any of her products before, nor have I read any reviews, so this was a nice read! I'm glad you at least liked the Cheerleader shade. I know, dark lipsticks can really be a hit or miss, but I'm sure you'll find the right one, as so many companies are trying their hands at since it's so popular these days; have you tried Urban Decay?! That perfume sounds so interesting and innovative, I've never heard of a scent that enhances your own natural scent! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you're having a very Happy Friday!
