Hair care is something I’m really hot on at the moment. If you read my 5 Life Updates post, you will know that I wanted to go grey but unfortunately my colour didn’t lift enough for a toner to be able to stick to my hair. I had it bleached four times in two months and that really damaged my locks. Fortunately, I took after my mum with hair, so it’s pretty strong and has held itself pretty well considering all its been through. However, I can’t bare the thought of having unhealthy, dry hair, so I had to get myself quality haircare to ensure I’m giving my hair the best treatment possible.
I used the Pureology Hydrate range for quite some time and absolutely loved it, but I wanted to try something from Aveda since I had heard great things about the brand. I knew I definitely wanted to try a few bits from their Damage Remedy range, because well, seemed fitting to my current situation, but for shampoo I didn’t want to go for something that could potentially be too hydrating. I recently bought a salon branded shampoo that was aimed at dry hair and every time I used it I felt like I had to wash my hair again as it left some sort of residue. So to avoid that, I went with the Shampure shampoo.
The shampoo is lovely, it has a gel-like consistency and foams up really easily which I love. I can’t stand it when shampoos take forever and a day to lather up. It is also really easy to rinse out, so I never feel like I still have some left on my hair. After I’ve washed my hair I go in with the Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment. It says to leave it on for 2-3 minutes, however when I have time I will usually leave this on for much longer. It’s perfect for anyone with dry, or chemically treated hair. It’s like a drink for my tresses and I always look forward to using this. After I leave the shower I’ll usually keep my hair in a towel for at least half an hour if I can. Because my hair is a bit dry now, I find it quite hard to brush thorough it when it’s wet, so I take a 20p-size amount of the Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair and run that through the lengths of my hair. It acts as a detangler, helps to fill in damaged cuticles for a smoother look and also protects the hair against heat damage. The whole Aveda range smells heavenly, it’s like a mix of being in a spa and being in a field of flowers. There are also no chemical nasties in their products which is truly amazing. And yes, I’m a huge fan of the brand if you couldn’t tell...

Thank you for this! I am an all-out sun baby in the summer and spend as much time as possible outside and in the pool. Not ideal for my poor hair, lol. I definitely need to check this out. I feel like so many products are super water-y and don't ever feel like they're actually doing anything.
ReplyDelete-Clarissa @ The View From Here
These aren't watery at all, in fact the mask is actually pretty thick :) Lucky you for being able to spend all your time in the sun and in a pool, wish I was that lucky! xx
DeleteIf you feel you have damaged your hair a lot you should look for something with amino acids or hydrolyzed proteins - it will help you to rebuild stronger keratin structure and maintain healthy hair fiber (avoid split ends, dryness, lack of shine). I would suggest something like L'oreal pro keratin refill, although AVEDA is also a great way to go! xxx

Thank you so much for the tip! Will have a look at that L'oreal range when I finish these Aveda products xx
DeleteMy hair has been feeling super dry this summer! I love Aveda products! Going to have to check these out next time I hit the mall!

Definitely do, they're great :) x
DeleteAveda has such a great reputation with their products and services, so it comes at no surprise that you love their products! I've only ever tried their hair sprays, so I'll have to keep this in mind! Thanks so much for sharing, girlie, and I hope you're having a great week so far!

DeleteI need to try this! My hair is crazy dry from being out in the sun and surf

Sun and surf sounds a lot better than chemicals and bleach haha :) Hopefully these products will help you too xx
DeleteI recently chopped my hair chin length and it felt so good! My stylist recommended Solu Clarifying Shampoo (http://us.davines.com/solu-shampoo/d/1165) for my dandruff due to over use of hair products - heh and Dede Conditioner (http://us.davines.com/dede-conditioner/d/1157C687). I will be adding color to my hair for the first time in two years and am a bit afraid (I loved my hair colored, but it was too pricey and way too damaging). Any suggestions on shampoo/conditioners/treatments that you used before Aveda? Or would you absolutely recommend Aveda after coloring? I've heard Pravana is a good line to try, too! .. ReplyDeleteI should really cut mine too but I'm not sure short hair will suit me. I'll just have to try it. I would suggest Pureology, I used it for a while and absolutely loved it! And for treatment, the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer does wonders for the hair. Definitely doesn't break as easily x
DeleteI'm currently in the process of treating my hair too. It got a little damaged from my recent bleach/ dye job so I'm trying to replace all the moisture lost. This sounds like a really good treatment and I'll have to look into it! Thanks for sharing!
